A train derailment in Brown County on Tuesday left thousands of pounds of gravel strewn about a county roadway.
A training hauling 390 tons of gravel derailed Tuesday along Corboy Road in the community of Sardinia. Ten of the train’s thirty cars reportedly jumped the track with two of the cars overturning.
Eastern Joint Fire and EMS Captain Levin Troutman told WHIO-TV that the train was traveling at about ten miles-per-hour when it suddenly reduced its speed to just two miles-per-hour, informing the train’s operators that a problem had occurred.
The debris left behind from the derailment caused Corboy Road to be shutdown for the rest of the day on Tuesday. The clean up at the site continued on Wednesday.
No injuries were reported in the derailment and the specific cause is under investigation.
