Chillicothe's Five-Week Large Item Collection Begins Near the End of May

Chillicothe’s annual Large Item Collection service begins near the end of May.

Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney says the five-week service will begin the week of May 29th.

As in years past, Large Item Collection is handled by a neighborhood’s trash collection schedule. That means neighborhoods with Monday trash collection will see their large items picked up during the first week of the program while neighborhoods with Tuesday trash collection seeing their large items picked up during the second week, and so on.

The full schedule for Chillicothe Large Item Collection is as follows:

Monday: Large Items will be picked up May 29 - June 2

Tuesday: Large items will be picked up June 5 - June 9

Wednesday: Large items will be picked up June 12 - June 16

Thursday: Large items will be picked up June 19 - June 23

Friday: Large items will be picked up June 26 - June 30

Residents are asked to separate their large items from their regular trash. Large items should be place at the curb in front of their home prior to the start of their collection week.

Items allowed during Large Item Collection include furniture, mattresses, or other similar items. Paint cans are also allowed but the paint inside the can needs to be dried out or mixed with sawdust.

Items not permissible for Large Item Collection include most electronics and large electric appliances. Construction materials are also restricted as are tires, batteries, chemicals, and other types of hazardous materials.
