Jackson Teen Sustains Minor Injury in Single-Vehicle Crash on Route 93

A Jackson teenager sustained minor injuries in single vehicle crash along State Route 93 in Jackson County on Monday of this week.

According to the Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Carter Leach, 16, of Jackson, was eastbound on Route 93 in Jackson County’s Milton Township around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 15th when his 2002 Toyota Tundra pick-up truck veered off the right side of the roadway, near milepost 24.

The patrol reports that Leach’s truck collided with a cable box and a utility pole along the side of the roadway. Following the impact, the pick-up re-entered the eastbound lane of the Route 93, then went left of center where it side-swiped an oncoming westbound 2011 Ford F-350. Following that collision, Leach’s Toyota then veered off the left side of Route 93 where it collided with a mailbox and a traffic sign.

Leach was cited for driving left of center and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The driver of the Ford F-350, identified as a 61-year-old Wellston man, was uninjured.

Distracted driving may have played a role in the crash as Tuesday’s release from the highway patrol encouraged drivers to never drive distracted.
