Ross Ag Society Board Prepares for 79th Annual Ross County Fair

The 2023 Ross County Fair is on track to open during early August and members of the Ross County Agricultural Society are busy preparing for fair’s 79th annual run. Ross Ag Society Board members convened on Tuesday of this week to continue with fair planning.

The Ag Society’s Treasurer, Jaluv Hoop, at Tuesday’s meeting said fair goers this year would have a new online option for purchasing tickets.

“We are planning on selling tickets through Hometown Ticketing which is an online platform that will allow people to purchase season passes, whether it’s daily tickets or senior citizen season passes,” said Hoop. “We also will have all Grandstand events available for sale, and you can purchase those in advance.”

Hoop added that it will still be a few more weeks before the online ticket sales will be ready for customers.

“We just have to get ahold of Hometown Ticketing to have them post all of the prices,” said Hoop. “Then they’ll go for sale.”

Another item of discussion from Tuesday's Ag Society board meeting was the addition of a new building for the fair's livestock sales office.

Board member Dan Elliott said a new shed will be placed next to the sales office near the show arena. It’ll be an Amish-style shed purchased for a little less than $6-thousand. Elliott said the addition is intended to provide shelter for the fair’s show committee and create more space for sales office personnel.

This year's fair will also see a 5-percent increase in the fee paid by concessions vendors. Instead of a fee of 10-percent of a concession vendor's total fair sales revenue, concessions vendors will now pay a fee of 15-percent of their total fair sales revenue. Board Secretary Mary Ludwick said It's the first increase to the concessions fee in 20 years.

The 2023 Ross County Fair is scheduled to be held from August 5th through August 12th.
