Chillicothe Farmers Market Coupons Available for WIC Recipients

The Chillicothe Farmers Market began its summer market season last month offering a place to buy and sell fresh grown fruits and vegetables among other assorted items. The Chillicothe Farmers Market will operate each Saturday through the end of October in the parking lot of the Ross County Service Center at 475 Western Avenue in Chillicothe.

We spoke with the Ross County Health District’s Health Communications Specialist, Sara Smith, earlier this week on a special offering that begins the weekend of Saturday, June 17th at the Chillicothe Farmers Market for recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children - better known as WIC.

WIC enrollees who show up at Chillicothe Farmers Market on Saturday, June 17th can visit with Ross County Health District personnel to receive free coupons that can then be redeemed at the farmers market for fresh fruit and vegetables.

“WIC will be at the Chillicothe Farmers Market three Saturdays this summer,” said Smith. “The first will be Saturday, June 17th. We’ll be there from 8:00 a.m. to noon with fruit and vegetable coupons for eligible participants.”

The second WIC Coupon Saturday this summer at the Chillicothe Farmers Market will take place on Saturday, July 15th with the third and final WIC Coupon Saturday of the summer set for Saturday, August 19th.

Proof of WIC enrollment is required to receive the coupons.
