Construction Worker from Amanda Dies in Fall Down Open Manhole

Sheriff deputies and fire crews from multiple departments in Pickaway County responded to a distress call at a Norfolk Southern Railyard in Columbus, Monday. The incident occurred when a construction worker, belonging to the Rock River Construction crew, fell approximately 30 feet down an open manhole on the premises.

The individual has been identified as Terry L. Miller Jr., 34, from Amanda, Ohio. Miller was engaged in sewer line work on the Norfolk Southern property when the incident took place. Rescuers discovered his lifeless body submerged in fast-flowing water at the bottom of the manhole. The recovery team extricated Miller from the water below, but regrettably, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

To determine the exact cause of death, the Montgomery County Coroner's Office has taken charge of conducting an autopsy.
