Grammy-winning country star Lainey Wilson will reveal a glimpse of her life on the road in a soon-to-premiere documentary special, she announced on Monday morning (April 15). Wilson shard a photo with Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts on her Instagram story to announce that the special will be available on Hulu next month.
The “Heart Like A Truck” hitmaker said Roberts “ran the roads with me, going from concerts to interviews and everything in between, to get a sneak peek into this wild ride I’ve been on. Lainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Country, my journey to now, will be streaming on Hulu starting May 29. Y’all buckle up.”
Roberts and Good Morning America also posted an announcement on Monday morning, teasing Wilson’s path from a “dreamer” to a Grammy Award winner (she scored her first-ever Grammy Award earlier this year in the Best Country Album category for Bell Bottom Country). Roberts said the Baskin, Louisiana-born singer-songwriter’s “story is one of reliance and passion.” The broadcaster invited viewers to “join us as we explore her incredible journey together,” through the documentary special.
Variety notes in a report on Monday that Roberts is producing the special via her ABC News Studios production unit. Roberts said in a statement to the outlet that she aims to tell “stories about talented women who are strong and authentic. Lainey is definitely one of those women, and I can’t wait to share her uplifting story with audiences around the world.”
Wilson’s Bell Bottom Country arrived in October 2022. The highly-anticipated album included “Hillbilly Hippie,” “Watermelon Moonshine,” “Grease,” “Hold My Halo,” “Heart Like A Truck,” “Live Off,” “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” and other highlights. Wilson expanded the 14-track collection with two additional songs after making her acting debut on Yellowstone: “New Friends” and “Smell Like Smoke.” Since then, Wilson has earned several awards, including at the CMT Music Awards, the ACM Awards and the CMA Awards, including the coveted Entertainer of the Year title. She’s one of the most-nominated artists at the upcoming 59th ACM Awards next month, along with Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton and others. Wilson’s latest anthem to release is “Country’s Cool Again,” inspiring the name of her headlining 2024 tour. See the upcoming dates below.
